Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) (Phase–I)
The doctoral studies programme in Education aims at training professionals in education in the skills and competencies related to systematically organising investigations into various concerns and problems in Education. To begin with, the programme is offered mainly to those who posses the degree of M.Phil. (Education). This programme consists of only thesis work and involves no course-work.
Candidates with 55 percent marks in the Postgraduate examination (50 percent for SC/ST candidates) are eligible to apply.
Applications for admission to the Ph.D. in Education be submitted on prescribed form, at any time of the year to the Director, SR&ED, along with a research proposal on a selected theme for thesis work.
PGDHE is meant for those who are aspiring to teach or are already
teaching in institutions of higher learning. Recommended by the National
Policy on Education (1986) and subsequently endorsed by the Rastogi
Committee on teachers in higher education, the PGDHE has been recognized
by the UGC as being equivalent to an Orientation Programme and two

The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme of IGNOU aims at developing the understandings and competencies required by practicing teachers for the effective teaching-learning process at the secondary stage. The programme also provides opportunities of sharing experiences gained by practicing teachers. It enables in-service teachers to select and organise learning experiences according to the requirement of learners. In addition, it develops knowledge and understanding of essential areas required by teachers in the emerging socio-cultural, political and technological context in general, and education system in particular.
In-service teachers with :
i) A bachelor or higher degree from a recognized university, and
ii) Two years full time regular teaching experience on temporary/permanent basis as Primary/Graduate/Post Graduate Teachers in primary, secondary/higher/senior secondary school recognized by the central or a state government or a union territory are eligible to take admission.

The Diploma in Primary Education (DPE) is a Teacher Education Programme for Primary School Teachers. The Programme is of 2 years duration and has a modular approach consisting of the following three modules.
I Certificate in Primary Teaching (CPT) 6 Months 16
II Certificate in Primary Curriculum & Instruction (CPC) 6 Months 18
III Diploma in Primary Education (DPE) 1 Year 30
The Programme aims at developing knowledge and understanding of Primary School Curriculum skills in transacting the prescribed curriculum, individual differences in the classroom along with appreciation of teacher's role and sense of commitment.

The Certificate in Guidance programme is offered since 1993, caters to the need of teachers, parents, social worker and others interested in guiding 5-11 years age children for their better learning and socio-emotional development. This is awareness level programme focuses on their overall development. It is the collaborative programme of the University and developed in collaboration with NCERT (National Council for Educational Research and Training).
